Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year Heats, 26 - 28 May - The Wallace Restaurant closed

The Wallace Collection is pleased to announce that we will be holding the London heats for the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year. These will take place between Monday 26 and Wednesday 28 May and will be open for the public to browse on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 May. The heats will take place in our Courtyard, which has resulted in the need to close the Wallace Restaurant over those three days. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but hope you will come and admire the entrants for yourselves! A range of cafés and restaurants can be found in the neighbouring streets, including Marylebone High Street and Baker Street.

Refurbishment

The Great Gallery will be re-opening in September after its refurbishment! To allow us to move the art works into their new home and return the other rooms to their former state, we will need to close rooms for a small period each during the run up to September and remove objects from display. We will, however, be opening a display of ‘Masterpieces from the Great Gallery’ in the Exhibition Gallery, so several of our greatest paintings can still be viewed until late August.

Below is a list of dates for you to plan your visit around. We do apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and hope you will enjoy the new Great Gallery from 19 September.

6 - 8 May: A Sibyl by Domenichino, The Laughing Cavalier by Frans Hals, The Lady with a Fan by Diego Velázquez, Paris by Anthony van Dyck and A Dance to the Music of Time by Nicolas Poussin will be removed from display to be re-hung in the ‘Masterpieces from the Great Gallery’.
