To celebrate the conservation of The Swing and the launch of digital tools to explore the project, the Wallace Collection has partnered with the crystal artist Sara Shakeel to create a sparkling version of the painting. Here is Sara to tell us more about how The Swing inspires her and how she responded to it in her work:

'I have loved this artwork for years, well before working on this commission. The thing that inspires me most about this painting is its happiness and positivity. It infuses nature, childhood and, for me, teenage memories. Although this work was made in the 18th century, I feel it has a very modern touch. Adding crystals to this amazing artwork enhances the fun and carefree mood of the painting. The juxtaposition of traditional painting techniques and materials with digital crystals brings this artwork to life'.
