Dementia-Friendly Relaxed Opening of 'Delusions of Grandeur'
Date | Tuesday 6 May 2025 |
Time | 10.00-11.30 BST |
Location | At the museum (Meeting Room) |
Speaker | Jon Sleigh |
Join educator Jon Sleigh for a dementia-friendly relaxed opening of Grayson Perry: Delusions of Grandeur, which presents over 40 new works by Sir Grayson Perry.
Delusions of Grandeur interrogates craft-making and perfectionism. It showcases intricate handcrafted objects alongside digital creations, contrasting hours of manual labour with quick production. This prompts viewers to consider authenticity and the artist’s future role.
This exhibition also highlights ‘outsider art’ with pieces by Aloïse Corbaz and Madge Gill. The discovery of Gill's exhibition at the Wallace Collection in 1942 has influenced Perry’s exploration.
